What is OpenVZ/KVM?
Each of these is a type of virtualization used by VPSTitan. Briefly here is a list of what each does and some of its advantages/disadvantages:
Software based virtualization. Each virtual server is a container or “box” on a larger node which is assigned a fair share of resources.
Advantages: Fast and easy for new users to setup and maintain.
Disadvantages: Linux Only, larger single user impact and is missing some advanced features.
Kernel level virtualization. Each virtual server has its own partition on the disk drive and acts 100% independently from the other VPS on the system.
Advantages: More flexibility, windows/linux/bsd/other?, compile your own kernel, more dedicated resources.
Disadvantages: Can be slower, harder for new users to setup and maintain.
Can I use IRC/Bittorrent/P2P?
VPSTitan allows the use of both Peer to Peer as well as Bit Torrent traffic, however we do not permit the transfer of illegal content. The following are acceptable uses provided they comply with the rest of the AUP:
- Source games
- Minecraft servers
- Adult material
- Video streaming
- Torrents (Must be limited to 20Mbps total)
How can I access my server?
As soon as your server is built and the installation completed, full instructions will be sent to you via email and through our customer portal instructing you on how to access your server.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes, we offer a 30-day no obligation refund on on VPS hosting services, provided the service is not abused. If you feel that you have ordered the wrong product feel free to contact our support team, as we’d be happy to credit your account for a different purchase. Domains & software licenses are not eligible for refunds.
Do you provide server management?
Our VPS servers, by default, are unmanaged / self managed. This means that YOU are responsible for any technical issues that may arise with your server. VPSTitan provides support related to your virtual server connectivity, accessibility and stability ONLY.
You can bundle our Support Shield server management package with your server. We recommend our management plan for anyone who is not self-sufficient in managing a server themselves or may need more than the average amount of assistance with a server. Additionally we offer a per incident fee if you need support on a per-ticket basis with Guardian Spirit.
What uses / applications are specifically NOT ALLOWED?
The following are strictly prohibited uses and may result in immediate termination if discovered on your account:
- TOR exit nodes
- Virtual currency (*coin) mining
- IP spoofing
- Fake/Replica product websites
- World Community Grid
- HYIP websites
- Booter/Stresser websites
- HitLeap or any artificial traffic creation
What percentage of server resources do you offer customers?
VPS resource limits such as RAM, Disk Space and Bandwidth depends on the hosting plan. CPU time is equally shared among all VPS on the server and is burstable up to 100% of the physical server CPU power.
Where are your servers? Can I have a test IP / download?
Our primary location is New Jersey, USA, however we also offer various locations across the globe . You can find our test IPs and downloads on our about us page.
How soon will my server be ready?
More complex setups will come with an advised ETA but the majority of builds are ready within 24 hours.
What payment methods do you offer?
We accept PayPal, and Stripe. We use PayPal to accept: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and bank transfers. We use Stripe as an alternative to Paypal to accept: Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Stripe is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1, the most stringent level of certification. On a per customer basis we will accept checks.
Do you offer free trials?
No, we normally do not provide trial VPSs as we’ve had clients abuse these offers in the past. We feel our products and their prices speak for themselves and are well worth the prices we charge for them. However in special cases we do allow a short trial period for prospective clients.
Do you collect my credit card information?
No. We rely on secure and trusted payment providers (PayPal & Stripe) to accept payments via credit card for us. PayPal handles both the credit card data and transactions. When using our Stripe payment gateway card information is stored remotely with Stripe, only a customer “token” is stored on our servers.
Do you backup my server?
We do not backup customers servers by default, but have a number of backup solutions you can choose from. We can provide offsite NAS space for your backups, a fully automated cloud based backup service, snapshot technology for virtual machine backups, or schedule managed image-based backups for virtual and physical servers. Please contact us with your requirements and we will assist with choosing the best backup solution.
Do you have an uptime guarantee?
Yes, we offer a 100% network uptime guarantee back by our SLA.
Do you provide private subnets?
Yes, for both IPv4 and IPv6. Contact our teams for more details on each.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes you can cancel at any time. We request that you login to your billing panel and submit a request for cancellation 14 days prior to your next invoice due date. Please review our Terms of Service for full details.
Can I upgrade/downgrade my VPS later on?
Yes! You are free to upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. You will be prorated for the rest of the period and the VPS will be upgraded within 24 hours of payment.
Can I install my own operating system?
Certainly – we provide a KVMoIP session for you to do this directly in your control panel should you wish to customise your initial installation. If you need further assistance, simply contact our technical department.
Can I get a different spec to the one on your website?
Of course! It’s not possible to list every configuration on our website so the most popular are shown, but if it’s possible to build, we can build it. Simply contact us for a custom configuration.
Can I have IPv6 Addresses?
Yes, simply contact our support team to request IPv6 addresses.
I've seen the same server elsewhere for less, will you price match?
We do have a price-match program against any competitors with a comparable service level, subject to a review by our sales team. If you’d like us to price match a server simply contact us with the spec and supplier and we will take it from there. Due to the significant difference in operating costs and service levels in Europe, we cannot price match European suppliers.
How can I reduce the price of my service?
There are two main ways to reduce the price of your service, both of which reduce the ‘risk’ to us and so result in pricing benefits. The first is to enter into a contract term for the service – usually between 12 and 36 months. The price reduction will increase as the contract term increases. The second is to enter our server reseller program providing discounts at various tiers for having multiple servers with us. Please contact us for more information.
Will you migrate my hosting account/websites from another provider?
Yes, as long as your are using the same control panel. Please follow the normal order procedure. Once you receive the welcome email please contact support team for migration assistance.
Can you register domain names for me?
Yes, we offer full domain registration & transfer services.
Does my VPS include cPanel or DirectAdmin?
cPanel/WHM and/or DirectAdmin is not included in any of our plans but we offer it as an optional package that you could add to your service.
Do you offer Live Chat and/or Phone Support?
Yes, however they are NOT offered as a 24/7 service and are meant for sales inquiries and minor issues. Should you have a support issue you must open a support ticket.
